I particularly enjoyed the visit to the Fitzwilliam Museum which had some fine Dutch paintings but truly abominable lighting. Imagine neon lighting focused 10 inches above the painting and then you'll understand why viewing conditions were suboptimal.
Clare College was not as impressive externally as other colleges, such as Kings, but I sensed an inner strength, a scholastic aptitude, the essence of humanistic and scientific excellence that defines the academic mission.
