In March 2000, a group of informaticians from Boston, MA travelled to Brazil to teach a week-long course on informatics. Our hosts raised the standard of hospitality far higher than we had expected and far higher than we can ever expect to return in kind. I also managed to gain 5 pounds courtesy of extraordinary Brazilian cuisine.
