Here is a small offering for the VTC: an example of how Boston University deals with the Y2K problem.
A user of a non-compliant PC was provided with an obvious solution; she was told to simply set the date back to 1980, as shown by the e-mail headers below (the name has been changed to protect the identity of the victim).

Personally, I think this is an ingenious solution. This way her PC can last for another 20 years!
AND they fixed this problem weeks (or decades) in advance...
